On August 20, People’s Economy Lab hosted the second session of our Lunch Labs virtual guest speaker series.
Lunch Labs are opportunities to dive deeper on some of PEL’s favorite topics, including solidarity economy, Just Transition, Community Wealth Building, Collaborative Governance, and more. Every Lunch Lab includes a brief explainer on a big concept, a presentation by a guest speaker with real life examples of how the concept is being put into action, time for Q&A, breakout discussion groups, and clear next steps you can take to support the work.
We had two guest speakers on August 20: Alice Park from Equitable Recovery and Reconciliation Alliance and Stephanie Morales from Made Space Seattle. Alice spoke about how ERRA has put collaborative governance into practice through a statewide community assembly in 2024, as well as their Community Enhancement Fund, to advance BIPOC small business ownership and close the racial wealth gap. Stephanie shared her experience as a participant in ERRA’s community assembly and recipient of a grant through the Community Enhancement Fund.
